Alexander High School’s baseball team is looking to get back to the state playoffs again in 2024.
The Cougars are coming off a 19-11 bid last year when they finished second in Region 5-6A and made it to the first round of the playoffs. They’re 2-1 in region play so far this season.
Junior infielder Joshua Sellers is among the team’s top hitters so far this season, with team-bests in batting average (.349), on-base percentage (.462) and hits (15).
Senior first baseman Colton Pickett leads the Cougars in RBIs with eight, and he also has nine hits, including a team best three doubles.
Junior Micah Green is tops on the team with seven stolen bases.
On the mound, junior pitcher Peyton Clower leads the team with a 3.41 ERA. Senior Heath Henley has a team-best 28 strikeouts with sophomore Jayden Whittlessey just behind him at 27. Henley, Whittlessey and freshman Matthew Westbrook all have one win apiece and Westbrook has the team’s only homer.
