Abraham Lincoln, Fredrick Douglass, and the Wright Brothers stepped out of the history books to inspire learning at South Douglas Elementary School.
The historical figures came to life during the school’s History Bee. To prepare for the history event, 21 students met weekly and read “Who Was?” books on famous people. Then, they created 100 questions on the lives of the historical figures.
After that, students took turns learning more and answering questions about the figures. Jackson Mullinax’s history skills took top honors in the South Douglas competition, with Cooper Franklin earning second place.
