State Superintendent's Student Advisory Council

State School Superintendent Advisory Council Application Open
Posted on 08/04/2021

As the school year begins for many students around the state this week, State School Superintendent Richard Woods is seeking students to serve on his 2021-22 Student Advisory Council.

“Year after year, my Student Advisory Council is an invaluable resource as I make decisions that impact students across the state,” Superintendent Woods said. “Getting to know these students and seeking their feedback, opinions and perspectives allows all of us at the Georgia Department of Education to make the best possible policy choices.”

Applicants must be entering grades 10-12 and be enrolled in a Georgia public high school for the 2021-22 school year. Virtual learning students are also considered enrolled.

All applications must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2021 at 5 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.

Selected students will be contacted by email, but all students may visit gadoe.org/studentadvisory on Sept. 17, 2021 at 10 a.m. to see whether they have been selected.
The Council will meet three times in person and once virtually during the school year, and meeting dates are listed in the application.

In years past, several students in the Douglas County School System have served as members of the council.
