ACT Scores for 2018

ACT Scores Decrease Slightly for Douglas County

The average composite ACT score for the Douglas County School System Class of 2018 held about steady at 19.4. The score for 2017 was 19.8. 

Alexander High School saw a slight increase in its composite score, Chapel Hill High School remained steady, and Douglas County, Lithia Springs, and New Manchester High Schools saw slight dips. 

The number of ACT test takers in Douglas County has increased every year for the past 10 years and has more than doubled since 2008, from 463 in 2008 to 962 in 2018. 

“Our goal is always to improve as a district,” said Douglas County School System Chief Academic Officer Pam Nail. “While we didn’t meet that goal, we are pleased that more students are choosing to take the ACT. We encourage a college-going culture, and having more students take a college admissions test is an important step toward their post-secondary education.” 

The average composite ACT score for Georgia for 2018 was 21.4, higher than the national average of 20.8. 

The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of curriculum-based subject area tests. The exam is scored based on a scale from 0 to 36. Results are accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities in the United States.
