Dr. Karen Strickland Named Exec Director

Dr. Karen Strickland Named New Executive Director of Federal Programs.

Dr. Karen Strickland is the new  Douglas County School System Executive Director of Federal Programs. In her new role, she ensures Title I, Title III, and Title IV programs are implemented and federal funding used most effectively.  


Dr. Strickland previously worked in the Carroll County School System as the Director of Federal Programs. In Carroll County, Dr. Strickland held several administrative positions, including High School Principal,  Human Resources Director, and Director in the Teaching and Learning Department. She says those years of experience and a drive for student success have prepared her for this new position. Dr. Strickland is excited to use her skillset to support the Douglas County School System’s Department of Student Services.  

A graduate of the University of West Georgia, Troy State University and Walden University, she shares the school system's mission of providing a quality education for all students.  Her role within the school system will be to collaborate with district and school-level leadership teams to ensure every student succeeds.
