The Douglas County School System Announces New Principal, New District Level Appointment

Kathleen French Named Director of Elementary Education

Kathleen French Douglas County Superintendent Trent North is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen French as Director of Elementary Education for the school system. Ms. French has worked in the Douglas County School System for 24 years, serving as principal at four schools. She spent the last 10 years as principal of Mason Creek Elementary. The school earned national STEM certification last year under Ms. French’s leadership.

“While I will miss the day-to-day interactions with elementary students, I am thrilled to work with all of our outstanding elementary principals,” said Ms. French. “I hope my experience will be of help in improving outcomes for all of our students.”

“I look forward to having Ms. French as a resource for all of our elementary schools and our curriculum department,” said Superintendent North. “Her vast experience in elementary education will be an asset at the district level.”

 

Mason Creek Elementary Welcomes Kristin Martin as New Principal

Kristin Martin Superintendent North is also pleased to announce the appointment of Kristin Martin as principal of Mason Creek Elementary, effective July 15, 2019. Mrs. Martin will replace Kathleen French, who has accepted a new position with the school system as Director of Elementary Education.

Mrs. Martin has worked for the Douglas County School System since 2006, most recently as assistant principal at South Douglas Elementary.

“I am very excited about this opportunity,” said Mrs. Martin. “I am looking forward to getting to know the parents, staff, and students at Mason Creek Elementary. I know that together we will continue to improve the educational experience for all students.”

“Kristin brings a wealth of knowledge and proven leadership skills to Mason Creek Elementary,” said Superintendent North. “I am confident that she will excel as the new principal.”

Mrs. Martin and her husband live in Douglas County with their four children. Her oldest child graduated from Alexander High School in 2018 and now attends the University of Georgia. The other three children all attend schools in Douglas County.

Mrs. Martin holds an education specialist degree from Columbus State University and a master’s degree from Seton Hill University.
