February 1 Benefit Concert to Feature 2018 American Idol Contestant, Andrew Weaver

The Performing Arts Booster Club of Alexander High School announces a fundraiser to help offset expenses for their kids traveling to New York in April. The chorus was selected last fall to appear at the famous Carnegie Hall in April during the Masterwork Festival series. They will not only perform with the festival chorus, but they will also be performing their own musical pieces conducted by Sandra Chandler.

“We are so excited to offer our students opportunities that exceed the basic classroom instruction," said Chorus director Sandra Chandler. “However, sometimes additional funds are needed, and a trip to New York is not cheap. It’s amazing how the parents and students have joined together in various fundraisers this year to help reduce the cost across the board for all students.”

“We are so excited about this trip. Carnegie Hall is the top of all music venues in the world, and the experience of visiting plus getting on stage is amazing,” said student and chorus member Faythe Aylor. Emmaline Conn added, “We need to raise a little more money for students that don’t have the resources for a trip of this magnitude. Another student, Cassie Rich is “very excited that Andrew is willing to come to help organize this event. Andrew will perform his latest singles and talk about his audition process. It’s going to be a great night of music, music, and more music!!!”

In addition to the concert, the students are accepting donations at the event or by contacting Marietta Preziosi, the President of the Booster Club at [email protected].

The concert will be held February 1 at 7 pm in the Alexander High Auditorium. Tickets are available at https://ahspab.ticketleap.com/ahs-mastery-chorus-benefit-concert-featuring/.  Tickets are $10 for online purchase or $12 at the door.
