Annette Winn Elementary School Counselor Dr. Corlissa Wilson has been recognized as Counselor of the Year for the Douglas County School System.
Among her remarks, AWES Principal Minda Trexler spoke about the results of Dr. Wilson’s work within the school.
“She has made a tremendous impact on our students through the use of grants and counseling services," Trexler said. "Our team has been strengthened since she joined the staff of AWES.”
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Mitch Springer also spoke about his observations and interactions with Dr. Wilson.
“Dr. Corlissa Wilson has done a wonderful job since joining the AWES staff," Springer said. "I've walked through the school on many occasions and noticed that she meets with students and is truly helping students to develop their full potential."
Each year, DCSS recognizes an outstanding counselor. Counselors are nominated by teachers, administrators, and staff from across the district. A panel of judges evaluate the recommendations and feedback from principals and other staff members to determine the district's counselor of the year.
