Police LogoFebruary 3, 2020 the Douglas County Board of Education issued a resolution to create a school police department as part of the Board of Education.  Pursuant that resolution, the Douglas County Schools Police Department (DCSPD) is now a functioning component of the Douglas County Board of Education.

The DCSPD consists of one Chief of Police, 30 certified Georgia POST Peace Officers, a security officer, a security camera specialist, and a dispatcher.

Two school resource officers are assigned to each high school, one school resource officer is assigned to each middle school, and one school resource office is assigned to each elementary school.  School resource officers may also divide time between their assigned school and another school.

The Chief of Police is also responsible for coordination of all safety functions to include but not limited to school safety plans, coordination of all safety drills and implementation and review of all safety procedures.

The district’s schools and the school resource officers assigned to the schools are divided into two separate sectors, a North Sector and a South Sector.  Each sector consists of one Captain who serves as the sector commander and one Sergeant who supervises the school resource officers for that sector.
