FSES is proud to celebrate Black History Month with a week full of spirit, pride, and meaningful engagement! Our 2026 Black History Month Spirit Week will take place February 23–27, 2026, and we invite all students and staff to participate as we honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans.
Each day will highlight a special theme:
Monday, February 23 – BlackOut
Students and staff are encouraged to wear all black in recognition and celebration of Black History Month.
Tuesday, February 24 – HBCU/Divine 9 Day
Represent your favorite Historically Black College or University (HBCU) by wearing school colors or apparel. You may also wear the colors of your favorite sorority or fraternity, or a Black History Month T-shirt.
Wednesday, February 25 – Dashiki Day
Celebrate African heritage by wearing African print attire, a dashiki, or a Black History Month T-shirt.
Thursday, February 26 – Throwback Thursday: Music Edition
Dress up as your favorite Black singer, rapper, or musician from the 70s, 80s, or 90s as we celebrate the powerful influence of Black artists in music history.
Friday, February 27 – I Have A Dream Day
Students may wear their most comfortable (school-appropriate) pajamas and share their future dreams on their grade-level bulletin boards.
Throughout the week, we will celebrate excellence, culture, creativity, and the lasting impact of Black leaders, innovators, artists, and change-makers. We look forward to seeing our school community come together in unity and pride as we honor Black History Month.
Let’s make it a week to remember!
We also hope you will join us for our annual Black History Month celebration featuring an inspiring program honoring African Americans' rich history, culture, and contributions. The event will feature student performances, music, and special presentations highlighting the importance of Black heritage.
All families and community members are invited to attend this evening of learning and celebration. We look forward to seeing you there!
