The 6th Annual NMHS Jaguar Classic is set for Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at 10 a.m. at New Manchester High School Stadium. Food trucks, vendors and concessions will be available. The day promises excitement as the best bands in the land compete for top awards, with an exhibition performance by the New Manchester High School Mighty Marching Jaguars. Fostering Family Leaders: Strengthening Families Through Parent Leadership
The Douglas County School System, in partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta and Communities In Schools of Douglas County, is offering an eight-month program called the "Fostering Family Leaders Cohort."
This program is a leadership series for parents. It aims to help parents by building on their current strengths, providing them with resources, and connecting them with other parents in the community. The goal is to provide a new level of leadership that will help parents enhance resiliency and skills in their home, school and community.
The program features 10 total sessions across the eight months. Since 2013, more than 100 Douglas County parents and caregivers have completed the program, with 95% reporting better relationships with their children and 100% gaining more confidence.
