Yeager Middle School buzzed with excitement recently as families enjoyed a hands-on science laboratory. They explored everything from DNA extraction to tectonic plate movement while learning that science happens everywhere.

As part of the school's "Science in Every Space: From Kitchen Counters to Earth's Core" event, students guided their parents through stations featuring experiments with everyday and recycled materials. The evening featured activities across all grade levels, with families working together to extract DNA from strawberries, model Earth's shifting tectonic plates, and race balloon-powered cars through the hallways.

"Events like this remind us that learning doesn't stop at the classroom door," said Principal Tameka Bonner. "Seeing our students and families engaged, experimenting, and having fun together was truly special. This is what it looks like when a school community comes together to support learning."

The event reinforced the school's commitment to engaging families as partners in education and demonstrated to students that science is happening all around them. Teachers designed creative, accessible activities that made complex scientific concepts fun, while families showed their commitment to supporting their children's education outside the classroom.
