Factory Shoals Middle students explored career pathways ranging from veterinary nursing to NFL sports agent during a Career Fair that brought more than a dozen professionals to campus.

The Jan. 14 event in the school media center also featured a realtor and actor, financial advisor, tax representative, photographer, HVAC representative, accountant, massage therapist, hospice entrepreneur, and representatives from West Georgia Technical College.

Students also heard from an author and retired armed forces member representing 100 Black FSMS media specialist Katrina Barnett poses with a guest speaker attending the school's Career Fair.Men of Douglasville, as well as a county commissioner.

“So proud of our Career Day Fair at Factory Shoals Middle School!” FSMS Principal LaVar Hickerson said. “I'm incredibly grateful for our community volunteers who showed up for our students, and I loved seeing how engaged and curious our scholars were throughout the day. Opportunities like this truly help our students see what's possible for their future.”

Students rotated through sessions, asking questions and gaining insight into the education, skills and dedication required for each profession. Many presenters emphasized the importance of goal setting, perseverance and lifelong learning.

Counselor Debbie Price, Media Specialist Katrina Barnett, Media Clerk Stephanie Edwards and Orrick Curry with the 100 Black Men of Douglasville organized the Career Fair. They said the event broadened students' understanding of future career options while strengthening their connection to the community.
