The Douglas County School System was well-represented at the 2026 Statewide Sixth Grade
Honor Chorus mid-January event held at the Classic Center in Athens. A total of 11 talented students from three different middle schools were selected to participate.
DCSS Performing Arts Instructional Specialist Sandra Chandler said, “This special honor chorus experience brought together talented young musicians from across the state and highlighted the importance of preparation, teamwork, and musical excellence. Our students represented Douglas County with professionalism, focus, and pride as they rehearsed and performed challenging choral repertoire.”
We are excited to celebrate the impressive achievements of the following:
Chapel Hill Middle School students Matthew Gibson, Melody Moreno Menendez, Temperance Snelling, and Director Tristin Baumann;
Fairplay Middle School students Braylee Miles, Kallie Lipham, Brooklin Schival, Kadence Smith, and Director Allessandra Roberson;
Mason Creek Middle School students Joanna Brown, Abyssinia Girmay, Amirah Jones, Imani Tillman, and Director Juliet Brown.
“Way to go for representing your schools and community so well,” Chandler added.
