The Alexander Cougars are the 2026 Douglas County swim champions!
Alexander swept the Jan. 22 Douglas County Swim Meet at Boundary Waters Aquatics Center
, edging Chapel Hill by four points on the boys' side and dominating on the girls' side behind state qualifier Dina Miller and wins in all three relay events.
Miller, a junior, won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke and will represent Alexander at the GHSA State Swim Meet next week at Georgia Tech.
The boys title was highlighted by a key first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay that proved decisive in the overall standings, coaches Suzie Scharff and John Warrington said.
Other first-place finishes for the Cougars included senior captain Max Rahn in the 100 breaststroke, Jordyn Snow in the 200 freestyle, Susanna Hernandez in the 100 butterfly, Mary Alford in the 100 freestyle and senior captain Maddie Hinds in the 500 freestyle.
Alford also came from behind on the final leg to help secure the Cougars' win in the 400 freestyle relay.
