Legacy Arena's first Georgia High School Association championship event was a thriller until theA ref raises the arm of a Gainesville wrestler after a win. end.

Creekview held off South Effingham 36-35 on Saturday to claim its second straight GHSA Class 5A Boys Team Duals Wrestling Championship.

Creekview's win came down to the last match of the day, Douglas County School System Athletics Director Eric Collins said.

Teams from as far away as Thomas County Central near the Florida border, South Effingham near Savannah, Coffee County in southeast Georgia and Habersham Central in the northeast Georgia mountains competed in the event.

Collins said the response from coaches, athletes and fans was overwhelmingly positive.

"The outpouring was awesome from the fans," he said. "They were very complimentary of our arena and they were complimentary of our tournament. They said it was well run and efficient. I heard that a lot."

Collins said Douglas County hopes to continue hosting GHSA events at Legacy Arena in the future.
