The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program is offered to all English Learners (ELs), students whose primary or home language is other than English and who are eligible for services based on the results of an English Language Proficiency Assessment. The purpose of this program is to assist such students to develop proficiency in the English language including listening, speaking, reading, and writing sufficient to perform effectively at the currently assigned grade level and to insure that EL students succeed both socially and academically. The responsibility of the Els whole education is shared by regular classroom teachers and English language assistance teachers as they work together to meet the needs of this diverse student and parent population recognizing that an essential goal of the program is understanding of the American culture and how to function successfully within it. Els are ensured an equal opportunity to participate in all special programs for which they qualify. It is the responsibility of the ESOL program to successfully prepare ELs to access all available postsecondary options.

Service may be provided through the following allowable delivery models: pullout, push-in, scheduled class period, collaborative teaching, sheltered courses, resource center/ESOL laboratory and/or cluster center program, and innovative delivery model.
