Allergies

There are many different types of allergies. They include food (milk, wheat, nuts), seasonal, pet, and others. It is important to discuss these allergies with the teachers, health monitors, and Douglas County Nurses. You may be asked to complete an Allergy Health History Form or a Family Food Allergy Health History Form to provide specific information for your child.

Those with allergies may have symptoms that include itchy eyes, coughing, and sneezing. For some people, allergic reactions require immediate attention. An Epi-Pen may be prescribed. If your child has been prescribed an Epi-Pen, please bring it to school in the pharmacy box that has your child’s name and prescription information. Your child's medical provider may be asked to complete an Allergy Action Plan.

Douglas County Schools do not have stock supplies of Epi-Pens, so each student must provide their own Epi-Pen with the appropriate written permission form completed. Please complete the Assistance With Medication Form when giving the Epi-Pen to the Health Monitor.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact your schools Health Monitor or Douglas County Nurse.
