LSHS Returns to State Championship

Lions Flag Football Team Returns to State Championship

Lithia Springs High School’s flag football kept its perfect record intact on Monday, as they defeated St. Pius High School 7-0 to return to the state championship for the second consecutive season.

Both defenses entered the game locked in, as neither surrendered a point through regulation. That changed in the first overtime period, as LSHS took the ball first and found the endzone to break the scoreless tie.

St. Pius then took the ball, but the Lion defense held strong once again, keeping the Golden Lions out of the end zone to end the game with a 7-0 victory and advance to the state championship.

Last season, LSHS dropped a OT  nail-biter 6-0 to Dodge County in the state championship.

This year, LSHS will battle the winner of East Coweta and Central (Carroll County) December 8 for the state title. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. at Georgia State’s Center Parc Stadium.
