Lisa Huey, current assistant principal at Bright Star Elementary, has been appointed interim principal at Mirror Lake Elementary, effective October 4.
“I am excited to see Lisa move into this role,” said Superintendent Trent North. “She has the experience and leadership skills to continue the great work at Mirror Lake. She will do a wonderful job supporting the students, families and staff and making Mirror Lake a premier place for learning.”
Current Mirror Lake Principal Leigh Sheffield is stepping away to devote more time to her family.
“I am very excited to join the Mirror Lake family as their interim principal,” said Ms. Huey. “I look forward to navigating this journey with an incredible staff and all of the Mirror Lake families.”
Ms. Huey has 16 years of experience in education, all in Douglas County. She taught first, second and fourth grades at Chapel Hill Elementary School before moving to Bright Star Elementary as assistant principal. She has been at Bright Star for six years.
Ms. Huey holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, a master’s degree in reading and a specialist degree in educational leadership.
