Posted on 06/13/2022
125 Douglas County School System students participated in the College and Career Institute (CCI) and West Georgia Technical College’s Commencement Exercises.

These hard working students earned Technical College Certificates (TCCs) on the Douglas campus of West Georgia Technical College (WGTC).

Over 272 certificates were awarded to students in the areas of Automotive, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Cyber Security, Dental Assisting, Early Childhood Education, Game Development, Nurse’s Aide, Pharmacy Assisting and Welding.

The goal of the CCI is the establishment of a student-centered collaborative

educational effort among members of the DCSS, WGTC, and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce. Most CCI programs, also called career pathways or CTAE (Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education) classes, are offered through dual enrollment with WGTC to qualified high school students enrolled in Douglas County School System.

Students are challenged to step up to
CCI Graduates the rigors of college coursework while earning high school and college credit simultaneously. Students reap the benefits of exploring career fields of interest, acquiring highly marketable job skills, and earning industry certifications.

Many students go directly into the workforce upon pathway completion. Whether they plan to go to college, continue to work, or both, they graduate from high school with the advantage of being college and career ready.

Congratulations to all of the graduates!
