Classified Positions
The Douglas County School System accepts online applications on a continuous basis for the following areas:

  • Bus Driver Substitute
  • Bus Monitor Substitute
  • Food Service Assistant Substitute
  • Paraprofessional
  • Special Education Paraprofessional

 Actual job openings may or may not exist in these areas.

 TRANSPORTATION AND FOOD SERVICE POSITIONS 

  • Persons interested in employment as a Bus Driver, Bus Monitor, or Food Service Worker must submit an online application to be considered for employment. 
  • Go to  http://www.dcssga.org  and click on "Employment" then "Job Vacancies/Postings". Then choose "Click here to view classified job postings" to see all of the classified job postings.
  • When vacancies occur, an administrator representing the school or department where these vacancies exist will select candidates from the applications online and contact candidates for an interview. 

CLASSIFIED ADMINISTRATIVE, CLERICAL, MAINTENANCE, MECHANIC, TECHNOLOGY, AND WAREHOUSE POSITIONS

  • Classified administrative, clerical, maintenance, mechanic, technology, and warehouse vacancies are announced with a job posting.
  • Go to http://www.dcssga.org and click on "Employment" then "Job Vacancies/Postings". Then choose "Click here to view classified job postings" to see all of the classified job postings.
  • A cover letter (letter of interest), resume and any other applicable documents must be submitted electronically with your application.
  • Vacancies are announced with a Job Posting for ten (10) business days beginning with the date of the Job Posting. 
  • Once a vacancy closes, the hiring official for the school or department reviews the applications and resumes and selects candidates to interview. The selected candidates are contacted directly by the hiring official to schedule an interview.
  • After a vacancy closes all applicants are notified of the job closing by email.

Paraprofessional Positions  

  • Applications for Paraprofessional positions are accepted on a continuous basis and remain active for one year.
  • Go to http://www.dcssga.org and click on "Employment" then "Job Vacancies/Postings". Then choose "Click here  to complete an application for all Paraprofessional positions.
  • Along with the employment application, applicants for Paraprofessional positions are also required to provide the application, and proof of meeting the definition of "highly qualified" as defined by the Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA)/ No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The Douglas County School System requires that all Paraprofessional applicants meet the definition in order to be considered for employment.
  • Documents accepted to prove "highly qualified status" for Douglas County are:
  • An official college or university transcript to verify completion of two years of college (60 semester hours/90 quarter hours towards a degree program, an Associate's degree, or a higher degree from an accredited and acceptable GaPSC institution). Transcript copies are not accepted.
    • Applicants for Paraprofessional positions may show proof of a passing score on the Praxis Series Paraprofessional Assessment or the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS FOR PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF THE SKILLS SECTION OF THE APPLICATION DOES NOT SHOW THE QUALIFICATIONS BEING MET.

REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW EMPLOYEES

  • Pre-employment fingerprints and criminal background checks are required. Fingerprinting is done at the Douglas County Board of Education Central Office.
  • Other supporting documents or requirements may be required for specific positions.
  • Employment eligibility documentation is required. A list of acceptable documents can be found at https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents
