COVID-19 Cases

Weekly Report on COVID-19 Cases in the Douglas County School System

The Douglas County School System has processes in place to deal with COVID-19 cases that will inevitably occur among our students and staff. Our goal is to mitigate the spread in our buildings through health and safety protocols and through a process of contact tracing.

The Douglas County School System will report new cases of COVID-19 in school system buildings every Friday afternoon. Cases are reported by school and do not differentiate between students and staff. Case counts indicate new cases for the week and are not cumulative. The weekly report will be posted by 6:00 p.m. every Friday.

Please keep in mind that we will protect the privacy of our staff and students. We will not provide names or any information that could identify a person who has tested positive.

When there is a case in a school, we will not send notification to all parents. Only those students identified as direct and indirect contacts are notified:

For Direct Contacts:

  • If your child is a direct contact to someone who is positive, you will receive a call from someone at the school to inform you. You will receive a follow-up call from the Douglas County Contact Tracing Team. Please ensure that your phone numbers are correct in Infinite Campus.
For Indirect Contacts:
  • If the student is at school, a letter will be given to the student to take home. Please ask your child each day if he or she has a letter to share with you.
  • If the student is not at school, the letter will be emailed to the parent through our automated messaging system. Please ensure that your email address is correct in Infinite Campus.

For a daily status report of COVID-19 in Douglas County and in counties throughout the state, please go to the Georgia Department of Public Health website.

If you have questions regarding our reporting process, please reach out to the principal at your child's school.
