The Douglas County School System's Class of 2024 is an exceptional and talented group of graduates. Among them are a Gates Millennium Scholar, six Georgia Scholars, 536 Board Scholars graduates, and 946 students eligible for the Hope Scholarship.

These exceptional graduates have not only gained acceptance into the state's top colleges and top Ivy League schools but have also committed to serving in all armed services branches. Together, they have amassed over 71.3 million dollars in scholarship money. Many of the graduates plan to impact their community and beyond by pursuing careers in fields such as medicine, engineering, and education.

The Class of 2024 celebrated their academic achievements and marked a significant moment in Douglas County's history with the unveiling of the Legacy Arena. The 150,000-square-foot multipurpose arena, with seating for up to 10,000, represents the future of Douglas County. It offers endless opportunities to host school system events, concerts, cultural events, athletic competitions, and conferences.

On Thursday, May 23, Ayomide Balogun, the salutatorian of LithiaAyomide Balogun Springs High School, had the honor of being the first student to walk across the Legacy Arena stage. This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter for all 2,160 seniors who took their turn on the stage. Their graduation symbolized a new phase in their lives and also introduced a milestone in Douglas County history.

The graduation ceremony was monumental, not only for the occasion but also for the resilience the students have demonstrated. When these students began their high school careers, it was during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, where they faced unprecedented challenges. Despite the uncertainty, they persevered, adapting to virtual learning and emerging stronger than ever.

As the Class of 2024 continues their journey towards education and career success, they carry valuable lessons learned from their historic high school experience. Throughout their time, they have displayed adaptability, determination, and built a strong sense of community. Collectively, these traits will serve them well in their future endeavors.

The Board of Education, along with Superintendent Trent North and the entire DCSS family of educators, looks forward to seeing the incredible contributions these bright scholars will make to society.

“The Class of 2024 represents the standard of excellence for the Douglas County School System," said Superintendent Trent North. “Their academic and personal achievements are a testament to their hard work and the dedicated support of our families, educators and community. They will continue to make us proud as they pursue their dreams and make a lasting impact on the world."

As the next class of students walks across Legacy Arena's stage, they will be reminded of the Class of 2024's resilience and the boundless potential inside every one of them. The Douglas County School System congratulates the Class of 2024 and wishes them all the best in their future pursuits.
