Football season kicks off in August, and that means band members are working in the heat to tune up their halftime shows.

Nick Viviano is the new Director of Bands at Chapel Hill High School in Douglas County. He previously taught band and music appreciation at Boiling Springs Middle School in Inman, SC. A graduate of North Greenville University, he comes to Chapel Hill with experience in some of the top marching ensembles in the country, including the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps.

“My expectation for the marching band as an ensemble is to be a force for good in the Douglasville community. I want to grow the band program significantly in order to provide the students with greater educational and competitive opportunities,” said Mr. Viviano. “I am very competitive. I love to see my students win, and we intend to, but I love to see them learn and grow even more. We cannot accomplish these goals without giving back to the community, so I would like to try and engage with local community members and allow them to take ownership of this fantastic program. I want to see the CHHS band become an absolute point of pride for the Douglas County School System and beyond.”
