A record number of students from Douglas County earned coveted spots to attend the Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) this summer. Fifteen students earned acceptance after a rigorous application and interview process.

The Governors Honors Program is a four week residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors.  The program offers instruction that is significantly different from typical high school classrooms and is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The program is housed at Valdosta State University, and the state of Georgia covers the cost of the program for all participants. For many students, the experience at GHP is uniquely positive and often life changing.
