Alexander JROTC Raider Team Takes Region and State Honors

The Alexander JROTC Mix Raider Team lead by Matthew Smith gave an outstanding performance at the Area 7 Regional Raider meet on October 13, 2012. The team which consists of six males and four females took the overall first place position after a grueling, but victorious day. 

The team tackled the course at Hiram High School taking first in four of the five separate events which consisted of a physical training test, map reading test, the Cross Country Rescue (CCR), water can relay, and rope bridge competitions. Along with coming in first place, the Male Raider Team lead by Drew Dymond came in overall fifth place which allowed both Mix and Male teams to qualify for the Georgia State Raider completion which took place at Fort Yargo, Winder, GA, on October 27, 2012.

At the JROTC State Raider meet on October 27, the team wiped out the competition for the individual Physical Training test. Cadet Matthew Smith took first place and broke the state record for the most amount of push-ups. Houston Gordon also broke the record by taking second place and Trae Green claimed fourth place. The team took the overall fifth place spot out of 30 teams. The team place first in the physical training test and the team run. Along with coming in fifth place, the Male Raider Team led by Drew Dymond placed fourth in the map reading test. The Alexander Cougar Battalion Raider teams had a great season and will be looking forward to next year.
