The Douglas County College and Career Institute (CCI) is the career academy collaboration between the Douglas County School System, West Central Technical College and the business community through the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce. Students participate in dual enrollment and receive high school and technical college credit for courses taken at the CCI. Dual enrollment develops academic and occupational competencies while accelerating completion of a technical certificate or diploma.
Site Information: The CCI will open in August of 2009. It will be located on the campus of West Central Technical College, 4600 Timber Ridge Drive, Douglasville. Until the new building opens, students will take classes on the WCTC campus.
Students Served:
Students who are in grades 11 and 12 who are 16 years of age or older.
Students who are in good academic standing and who demonstrate satisfactory attendance and discipline.
Students who have successfully completed pre-requisite high school courses
Students who meet West Central's admissions requirements, including an appropriate score on the ASSET or Compass exams (appropriate SAT and ACT scores are also acceptable).
Financial Aid:
Students may apply for the HOPE grant and must meet all eligibility requirements.
Dual enrolled students are not eligible for additional financial aid while still in high school.
Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA in their college courses and complete at least 67% of courses attempted during each quarter in order to keep the HOPE grant.
HOPE covers tuition and fees. Students also receive a book allowance, but are responsible for any additional costs or fees.
