The Community Relations Department handles all media relations related requests and acts as the School District's Public Information Office. Please click the links below for information on the various programs of the Community Relations department.

Calendar

The Community Relations Department assists in developing the school calendar with input from parents, employees, and the community. For the 2016-2017 Official Calendar, click Calendar.

Flyer Approvals

Businesses and non-profit organizations wishing to make their flyers available in schools must submit the flyer to the Community Relations department for approval. For instructions, click Flyer Approvals.

Leading & Learning Publication

Schools submit articles to be published in the Leading & Learning section of Chapel Hill News & Views September through May. To learn some of the news and programs from our schools and system, click Leading & Learning.

Partners in Education (PIE)

The Douglas County School System has a robust Partners in Education program. Businesses and organizations partner with schools in many ways to support student achievement. Interested in becoming a partner? For more information on this rewarding program, click Partners In Education (PIE).

Teacher of the Year

Every year, each school selects a teacher to be honored as Teacher of the Year (TOTY). From this group of 34 teachers, one teacher is selected as Teacher of the Year for Douglas County. We are proud that the 2015-2016 Douglas County Teacher of the Year was selected as Georgia Teacher of the Year for 2017! Teacher 4 A Day and Principal 4 A Day

Business and community members have an opportunity each year to shadow a principal or teacher in one of our schools as part of the Teacher 4 A Day or Principal 4 A Day program. For more information and an application, click Teacher 4 A Day (T4AD).

Public Education Trust, Inc. (PET)

The Douglas County Public Education Trust, Inc. (PET) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that awards scholarships each year to high school seniors in Douglas County and awards Classroom Impact Grants to teachers for initiatives not funded by local, state, or federal dollars.
